DISABLED, YET NOT DISABLED!
Hello lovelies! I feel so excited and inspired to write today. I have just finished reading the story of one beautiful soul on Bella Naija. Wow, what a story! This lady I'm about to gist you though is physically challenged yet not ‘disabled’. Actually, the story was written about 6years ago but I got to know about her recently. Honestly, I must say, after reading her story, I fell totally in love with her. So peeps, meet my new found love story of Lizzy O. a.k.a ‘Do it Yourself’ (DIY Lady)!
I was going through pictures on Instagram on this
particular day when I came across the picture of this pretty face on a wheel
chair who seems so happy in spite of her situation. I was attracted by her
courage even in her seemingly disable condition so I went ahead to check out her
page. I realised this is a woman that hasn’t allowed her situation determine
her happiness. I could see in all her pictures that she’s full of life. Then I
also discovered she’s a 'jackie of all trade' , as she also termed herself *wink*. She's a blogger, a Nurse, and as well a photographer (se you see for yasef now *smile*). You begin
to wonder how she manage to get things done being tied to her wheel chair, but
then it only show’s her strength. It show’s she has grown beyond limitations.
While still doing my aproko (*smile*),
I noticed she just got engaged and I was more interested. I also need to
mention that I saw a picture of her when she was still fully abled bodied,
standing on her feet. Then the big
question came to my mind; what could have put this beautiful, vibrant lady on a
wheel chair? I was so curious to know more so I started my online research.
During my search I came across so many inspiring things
others have written about Lizzy O. but then it only got me more curious. This
means she has been around for a while. I needed to know more so I kept
searching. Finally, I saw her interview with Bella Naija where she narrated how
it all started and how she’s been coping with life. From her narration, I noticed she has involved God in her life and little wonder she could go this far. Lizzy refused to use her condition as an excuse to become a burden. In her story, I
see a lady that has decided to take charge of her life no matter her
circumstance. I see a lady filled with faith. I see a lady that is born to
inspire generations with her seeming incapacity. I see a lady that has broken
barriers. Above all, I see a Success. Lizzy O. is a Success!
She got married recently and her pictures went viral! They flooded the internet. She is blessed. Love always find beautiful souls. She has proven to the world that being physically challenged is not a limitation.
On that note, it got me thinking how we with complete body give excuses for not pursuing our dreams. Our fears have been a constant stumbling block to our success. Only if we can take a cue from Lizzy O. and see beyond our limitations. Only if….
Lizzy’s life is an inspiration to me and I know
to so many others. I bet you’ve been inspired too. To know more about Lizzy O. a.k.a DIY Lady, check out her
